Delaney Skuse

As Chapter President of Delta Gamma, I served as the chief executive officer, providing strategic leadership, oversight, and direction for a chapter of 250 members. I represented the chapter to campus leadership, national organization staff, alumnae, and other stakeholders. My responsibilities included:

• Leading executive board meetings and chapter meetings, ensuring alignment with organizational values and national policies
• Supervising and supporting all executive officers in achieving chapter goals related to membership, academics, philanthropy, risk management, and operations
• Acting as the primary liaison between the chapter and the Delta Gamma Executive Offices, Fraternity advisors, and campus Greek Life administration
• Managing conflict resolution, upholding standards, and fostering a positive, inclusive sisterhood environment
• Spearheading strategic planning initiatives, including recruitment, budgeting, and goal setting
• Representing the chapter at regional and national Delta Gamma events and leadership conferences
• Ensuring compliance with all university and national organizational policies and procedures

• Assisting with meals, snacks, and bedtime routines for the children.
• Greeting parents upon arrival home from work and providing updates on the day's events.
• Completing light housekeeping tasks such as tidying up toys and books.
• Providing a safe environment for children to explore their curiosity and creativity.
• Engaging in age-appropriate activities like reading stories or playing games.
• Instructing children in basic hygiene practices such as brushing teeth or washing hands.
• Tailoring activities based on the individual needs of each child under care.
• Administering medication when needed according to parent instructions.
• Transporting children to school, sports activities, or other engagements when necessary.
• Maintaining a positive attitude while being patient and understanding with the children.
• Establishing trust through consistent communication with both parents and kids.

As a Unit Director, I led a team of cabin counselors and oversaw the well-being of a group of campers, ensuring their schedules, dietary needs, and overall care were thoughtfully managed. I facilitated regular coaching conversations with staff to support their professional growth and effectiveness in their roles. Additionally, I was Wilderness First Aid certified and served as the primary point person on overnight wilderness trips, ensuring the safety and preparedness of both campers and staff in remote settings.

As a cabin counselor I ensured the safety of the children I was directly supervising as well as serving a a one under my the director of the unit I was working with during the week. I would lead and facilitate games and activities as a way to behavior mange, and would have to change and adapt based on ages and the circumstances of the environment. As well, my role was to provide a role model for many kids who may not have that at home, and I am there to provide support when need be. And demonstrate core values of honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring as a core reason why choose to act a certain way in certain situations.
