Your performance isn't measured by your students grades. Learning is not just comprehension.

The student should be doing the work. It's ok to do an example occasionally, but make sure the student is leading the lesson, while you push with encouragement. Put the student in charge of their learning while you offer support and guidance. They should be writing on screen or on paper.

Ask the student how they like to work and ask them what they want to work on. You can always suggest otherwise, but at least they know you're on their side.

Ask follow-up questions and check for understanding before moving on. Also try to spend the last 5-10 minutes reviewing.

Praise students for their effort, not the outcome. Tell them you appreciate their hard work and focusing, etc. "Catch them being good" and call it out.

Webinars are giving by Katherine Jaspers on you-tube, In her videos, she mostly dives into teaching reading certification exam prep. Dr.Jaspers walks  through five questions, breaking them down, and exploring their context to cover key concepts you'll need for your exam. Whether you’re preparing for the Foundations of Reading, Praxis Teaching Reading, Texas STR, or any other reading certification exam, this video will help you succeed. This information covers Phonological Awareness, Phonemic Awareness, Fluency, Phonics and Comprehension.
