  • One of five commissioners who organize and exercise supervision over the Police and Fire Chief for the city of Stevens Point, WI in a public-facing role.
  • Develop and implement policies.
  • Adopt rules governing the internal control and management of the respective departments.
  • Audit bills, claims and expenses.
  • Hire Police and Fire Chief positions, if necessary handle disciplinary issues including termination of employment.
  • Set goals, objectives and yearly performance reviews for Police and Fire Chiefs.


ACCOMPLISHMENTS:


  • Coordinated with the City Attorney to revise the Administrative Rules and Procedures of the Stevens Point Police and Fire Commission that improved overall operations and reduce redundancies in workflow. Re-adopted by commission action in 2023.
  • Developed a matrix identifying pertinent data points used in the creation of a database to support officers need for additional Information Technology staffing. City Treasurer and Mayor implemented necessary changes once data points were presented.
  • Revised the platform for performance reviews ensuring Chiefs accomplishments were properly documented.
  • Served in the role of Police Liaison; May 2022 - April 2023.

  • Research inquiries from personal/commercial lines claim representatives and internal investigations using best available resources for obtaining data from public records, internet searches, news sources and subscribed to databases.
  • Analyze and interpret results for the claim representative/investigator.
  • Conduct in-depth online research and use advanced search techniques to locate individuals' social media profiles across multiple platforms (e.g. Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube, Google, Google Maps) to gather intelligence for fraud prevention, background checks and investigative purposes.
  • Maintain knowledge of privacy regulations, compliance regulations, pertinent federal and state legislation and pending legal changes.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS:


  • Over the last 19 years have consistently maintained the highest level of completed database research referrals in our unit. My manager has been quoted as saying, "Denise sets the bar as to what can be accomplished when self-motivation meets the desire to exceed end-users' expectations."
  • Developed a Public Records Analyst training manual which established compliance for referral requests.
  • Coordinated with social media vendor, Skopenow, in testing and troubleshooting software that Sentry ultimately contracted with.
  • Managed the Public Records Unit interface as part of a selected team to deliver presentations, perform extensive research, testing, develop training material, and train associates with a new software tracking system.
  • Developed a matrix identifying pertinent data points to be used in the creation of a database for consideration in predictive analytics project and test mining business case.
  • Instrumental in implementing changes to the format of our analysis which was adopted by management as the new standard.
