Summary

I gave my life to Jesus at the age of 9. Being confused was God’s way of dealing with me, as I had in my mind that God made Jesus go to the cross. My father was able to show me otherwise through the Scriptures, and that night I put my trust in Jesus forever. For the years following I struggled with the fact of whether or not I was truly saved. It was at Falls Creek one summer that I came to a complete understanding that my salvation was never in jeopardy, based upon what God had done for me. I was called to the ministry in June 2004 after a 3-wheeler accident nearly took my life. It was at that moment in the days following this accident that I realized God was trying to get my attention to be a part of ministry and I was not listening. This accident was what it took for God to get my attention. I became involved in BCM activities at NWOSU when the fall semester began and looked for other opportunities on campus to serve as well. In January of 2006, the student minister position opened up at FBC in Alva. I applied and began my tenure in March of 2006 and served there until September of 2022. My Vision for ministry was to provide spiritual care for church members and guests of all ages. To oversee discipleship and educational opportunities for all ages and to assist the Senior Pastor and other staff with general pastoral duties such as, preaching when called on, counseling, training, and providing care to those who are homebound, or hospital visits. To encourage spiritual growth through small groups and fellowship. To train leaders in specific areas of need (i.e. Sunday School teachers, small group leaders, etc.). In 2013 our first daughter, Asa, was born. She is now an outspoken, vibrant 10-year-old who is currently completing the fifth grade. In August of 2019, we welcomed our second daughter, Bays to our family. She’s currently four and a half years old, and is completing her first year of pre-k. Chesnei is finishing up her seventh year of special education at our local middle school. While in student ministry, she was vital to the aspects that made ministry run smoothly and was a tremendous role model to the girls.

Ministry Experience

Student Minister, First Baptist Church, Alva, OK, 03/2006, 09/2022, An emphasis has been placed on evangelism, discipleship, and missions through various weekly, monthly, and yearly events. I was responsible for Sunday School classes, summer camps and events, and mission trips. I also co-lead Vacation Bible School each summer. Media: I managed most of the media that went on at FBC in Alva. I worked with Benson Sound, Inc., who managed all of our technology remotely, and am their go between when problems arise. I uploaded our messages online and made sure our livestream and Facebook Live streams worked properly. I also organized schedules for our worship services. Office management: I worked with our secretary to take care of the administrative duties of the office. I have done everything from ordering supplies to taking care of transients who are passing through town. I also handled church records and most of the membership requests, whether incoming or outgoing. Communications: I handled all email and text alerts that would go out to the members of the church. Within the text alerts, we had several different groups that we can reach independently and send alerts to. Mission opportunities: I have always had a heart for missions, but had not been able to take advantage of pursuing that, until my business sold. Since then, we have begun a partnership with a church plant in Edmonton, Canada. I have worked closely with church planter Vedaste Ndamiye during the last few years. Events and Activities: Along with the normal church activities, I have had the privilege of driving activity buses for various school activities for the last eight years. I have driven for athletic teams, elementary field trips, choir competitions, and band competitions. I also have been an assistant football coach at AHS for the last 14 years. This has also afforded me the opportunity to build relationships and witness to players who may have never walked in our church walls. School Involvement: We have built fantastic relationships with the school administration. The relationships we have with the middle and high school principals has allowed me direct access to the hallways of the building, virtually whenever I want. Our relationship with the superintendent has given access to students that I am not sure I would not get otherwise.

Vision For Ministry

Though I have not been a Lead Pastor, I believe the ministry experience I have gathered over the past 18 years has provided me valuable wisdom in helping pastors in this area. My desire is to build relationships with pastors and be someone they can call upon in times of need, preaching when vacations happen, and to also challenge pastors in what they are doing to move the local church forward.
