As a lab assistant, I draw and prepare many different patient specimens such as:

• Routine venipuncture
• Infant heel sticks
• Finger sticks
• Draw up urine for cultures
• Swab for COVID, RSV, Strep, Pertussis, wounds, FLU.

-In addition to collecting patient samples, I register and process each specimen that comes in. After collecting the samples from the patient, I spin the sample in the centrifuge, draw out the plasma/serum if needed, double check labeling, batch the samples with the correct test, number of tubes, and make sure the samples are placed in a biohazard bag to be ready for transport.

-I also train each new hire and sign off on their skills assessment.
