Who is Dimitri de Groot?

I am a 21 year old Binghamton native of Guyanese descent. After I was born in 2003, I spent many of my early years traveling the world with my father, who at the time was playing in the Cricket World Cup for team Canada, and my Mother who took on the role of being a full time mother whilst building a very successful seafood business in Guyana, South America. In 2013, we returned to America after many years out of the country and my parents and my siblings and I started to chase our "American dream". Since my family and I returned, I was a part of the Binghamton City School District from grades 5-12 and started playing varsity football as a freshmen and was named a captain in my sophomore year until senior year where I then graduated in the top 20% of my class, graduating with a International Baccalaureate degree from Binghamton High school. I went on to accepting one of my 10 offers to continue my academic and athletic career at Keiser University in West Palm Beach, Florida where I enrolled as a criminal justice major and a proud member of the football team. In 2022, due to my mother taking illness, I unenrolled from school to start my working life to aid my family who was in crisis and needed some extra help, since then, I have embarked on a journey to find my true passion in life, as I continue to work each day for OPWDD, I have realized my true passion in life is to help support individuals through their everyday lives, to help them make changes that they want for themselves, and to instill a unique and meaningful bond with each individual that I interact with. To summarize who I really am, I would tell people that I am a young but wise, hardworking, high-spirited man who wants the best for each and every person in his life, I wake up everyday ready to take on whatever is thrown my way with a smile on my face because I want to be able to provide for myself and for my family, and knowing that I work one of the most unique and fun careers that one can find, along with getting to work with such an amazing team of coworkers and a great group of individuals is the drive that keeps me going everyday!
