Design, test and Launch 8-10 ft. high-powered rockets.

  • Write and present proposal for design and funding of high-powered rocket for NASAs Student Launch Initiative National Competition.
  • Oversee and instruct team of 12 as they design, build, test and launch high-powered rockets to reach an altitude of over 3500 ft.
  • Build a payload to accomplish tasks upon landing. The payload for the 2022-23 school year righted itself upon landing and took photos of the surrounding landscape.

  • Design and build robots for FIRST Robotics competitions.
  • Compete at FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC ) competitions. At regionals, the Whitney Young Robophins team won the Inspire and other awards for the last 3 years advancing to the Illinois State Competition.
  • Mentored the Ruggles Elementary School FIRST LEGO Robotics Team to help them prepare for the Illinois State Competition. At the state competition, the Ruggles team won the Innovation Project Award.
  • Conduct education and outreach through webinar presentations on CAD to over 100 middle school and high school students for the last two years. This year the webinars reached students throughout the Chicago Metro area, Wisconsin, Jamaica and Nigeria.
  • Conduct exhibits and presentations at the Chicago Museum of Science and Industry and community colleges to over 1000 people.

  • Re-initiated the Whitney Young Rock Climbing Club after the COVID-19 pandemic and tripled its membership.

  • Competed in numerous chess competitions including regional, state and national championships.
