RESEARCH AGENDA

  • My research agenda centers on advancing school-based social work practice and education, with a focus on developmentally appropriate, neurodiversity-affirming mental health interventions in K–12 settings. Drawing from extensive school-based clinical experience, my work examines the effectiveness and implementation of play-based, relational, and trauma-informed approaches to support emotional regulation, social functioning, and mental health outcomes for autistic and neurodivergent students.
  • A secondary line of inquiry addresses training, supervision, and pedagogical models in school social work education, including how MSW curricula and field education can better prepare clinicians for the ethical, systemic, and practical realities of school settings. Methodologically, my work emphasizes applied, practice-informed research approaches, including mixed methods, qualitative inquiry, and program evaluation, with the goal of bridging research and real-world school mental health practice.
