Summary

I'm passionate about learning and using what I've learned to improve systems and operations. My work in Object Oriented Programming has taught me a better way to organize solutions into 'pieces' that are easier to implement, debug and maintain. It has also taught me the importance of learning from users, documenting requirements and how the requirements have been addressed by the solution.

Perhaps most importantly, application development has taught me how to quickly narrow down a problem. This has been useful both in debugging software and in fixing malfunctioning hardware in Field Service.

Appreciation for the knowledge and wisdom of others has helped to widen my own knowledge and opened the door to learning from others and applying that knowledge in ways that improve the functionality and operation of systems.

  • Using Automatic ID Technology to reduce errors and increase efficiency (RFID, barcodes, NFC, etc)
  • Hardware and Software Development and Installation
  • Analyzing and improving operations by applying new technologies
  • Familiar with a wide range of technologies
  • Experienced in developing Object Oriented Windows applications in C# and NET with connections to SQL Server
  • Good communication skills to understand what others are saying and to speak clearly and concisely when responding

Accomplishments

Some systems designed and implemented by me 15 years ago are still in use today. Some of these include:

  • Integrity Verification System in use at PlasticPrint (https://plasticprint.com/). This system prints a barcode on a form that is read by the envelope inserter equipment to insure every card is printed and stuffed into the correct envelope for HIPAA conformance.
  • Husky Card student ID card system in use at University of Washington (https://hfs.uw.edu/Husky-Card-Services/Husky-Card/Student-Husky-Card), This system reads data from a smart card as it is printed and stores that information in an SQL Server database for management of regional transit privileges.
  • FuelCard system for issuing CFN and Pacific Pride cardlock fuelling cards, This system imports a print queue from the cardlock network, tells the card printer to feed a card into the printer's mag stripe reader, reads the card, finds the correct record in the print queue, and continues to print the correct data on the correct card.

I would be proud to provide a more complete description and references for each of these and other accomplishments.

I've raised two sons and two daughters and served as a Boy Scout leader
