I am an adopted child through DHS My birth mother chose adoption before I was born. She had the best support from her Caseworker 53 years ago she was given assurance that all her concern and fears were addressed for me. Let me say DHS picked the perfect couple I had an amazing childhood I take my job extremely serious. I am a family person and I want our children that come into care to have the best life that they can have. My goal was to help the children that for whatever reason have been removed from their parents, home, and families. I understand that sometime the outcome may not be reunification, and I understand that sometimes that is what is best for the children, but I know our goal is what is best for the children. I have come to realize as a adopted person that you do not have to have the same DNA or the same skin pigment to be family. And this is one of many reasons I chose this job. Our children are our future, and they deserve the best. I have worked closely with several Family Service Workers and I feel that I would enjoy and feel so satisfied in this position.
