Dorothy Marie Sanabria

Ensure the development, delivery and implementation of comprehensive, quality professional learning support for educators and school leaders across Manhattan in areas of pedagogy and content based on district and school level data analysis. Developed protocols for managing a team of instructional coaches and academic policy and performance leads during a pandemic in order to ensure that students across the borough received the services needed through equitable programming and instructional practices, whether learning in person or remotely.

Responsible for the coordination, development, and design of a diverse array of professional development in instructional guidance and Math/Science content in support of a comprehensive, CCLS-aligned instructional program. Responsible for managing the development and design of standards-based resources, instructional guidance, and professional development, in support of a comprehensive Pre-K-12 instruction program for schools, school leaders, and teachers.

Experience in collaborative action research and worked with schools to identify research questions, co-construct action plans, and used lessons learned to impact student learning, teacher practice, and school-wide change.

Conducted professional development for school staff on analyzing school-wide data, inquiry work, progress monitoring, and NYCDOE data programs such as STARSClassroom. Experience in creating school-wide master schedule, programming on STARSAdmin, creating and facilitating Professional Learning Communities, initiating restructuring of school vision and mission statement, and implementing school initiatives, such as Honor Roll and Career Day for school community.

Experience in new teacher mentoring, and facilitating grade meetings for middle school math department. Conducted professional development for school staff math department on curriculum and components of the Danielson Framework. Provided in class math intervention for bottom third students in grades 6 to 8. Worked with teachers on curriculum mapping, test prep and interim math assessments. Experience in teacher observations, co-planning, co-teaching and modeling lessons with classroom teachers.

Developed and implemented daily and unit lesson plans in the field of Algebra, Geometry, Number Sense and Operations, and Measurement for the 7th grade, averaging 30 students per class. Fostered a classroom environment conducive to differentiated learning and student/student interaction. Attended various workshops on test prep, curriculum planning, and math assessment. Served on the school-wide Inquiry Team, where we analyzed student data and implemented school-wide change strategies.

Developed and implemented daily and unit lesson plans in the field of Earth Science and Life Science to 5 different classes, averaging 30 students per class. Fostered a classroom environment conducive to differentiated learning and student/student interaction. Assessed submitted class assignments, determined grades and reviewed work with struggling students to boost success chance.
