I currently serve Helotes as the sole Animal Control Officer and Local Rabies Control Authority. The job has allowed me to not only help many animals find their families, but many find new homes as well. Helping these animals brings a joy few other jobs can offer. I have worked with skunks, raccoons, bats, possums, deer, hawks, foxes, snakes, horses, cattle, and many animals other than cats and dogs. This has provided a wide range of experience in handling, transporting, and caring for various animals. Also having the operationally to work as a Code Enforcement Officer gave me a deeper knowledge of municipal codes and the skills needed when talking to residents, helping them understand the importance of local and state laws to gain their compliance.
