- Collected fish samples using a variety of gear types such as gill nets, trawls, seines, electrofishing gear.
- Duties included gathering weights of kept and discarded fish. Taking biological samples from various sea life. Use of a dichotomous key to identify various species that could be fished up in the North Atlantic.
- Experience working with, identifying, and handling marine mammals, including various seals, and dolphins.
- Worked with NOAA on submitting and auditing the data to be of use for academic research institutions, the marine and coastal industry, state and local government institutions, and community organizations.
- Monitored commercial fishing operations for compliance with regulations and permit requirements.
- Contributed scientific information to support policy decisions regarding fisheries management.
