I Have been working for the City of Bristol TN as an Operator since 2006 while also performing other duties as the primary on site maintenance technician for the water plant and on call maintenance person
Duties include being available to operate the plant first and foremost but also to be primarily responsible for maintaining equipment and facilities to be able to produce water for the Cities customers.
Some of my skills unique to my job include:
Learning a new software system and using it to design and create a front end SCADA control system display for daily operations use.
Electrical training background useful for repairs as well as a basic knowledge of PLC equipment capabilities and coding to assist in development of control systems for plant operation.
Repairing valves, pipes, and other plumbing fixtures around the facilities we maintain.
Scheduling contractors for pump and motor repair and rebuilds to limit impact of downtimes on the service of water to the city.
Locating parts vendors for specialized equipment used in water treatment and ordering replacement parts.
Works well with outside contractors and vendors to help maintain equipment and parts.
Worked with supervisors to help develop plans for capital improvement project scheduling as well as for existing CIP improvement project guidelines for engineering proposals based on knowledge of current system status and needed improvements to maintain ability to meet water demands.
Being on call for repairs or equipment failures any time of day or night to preserve water functions within the plant or pump stations.
