Advise on complex legal issues related to appropriations law including continuing resolutions, the Antideficiency Act, and improper augmentation of appropriations. Provide training on all areas of fiscal law to senior Department officials. Advise colleagues on appropriation matters involving the federal education programs.

Principal advisor to the Equal Employment Opportunity Service (EEOS). Review Final Agency Decisions for legal sufficiency, counsel EEOS employees on investigations, review EEOS policy statements, draft appellate briefs before the Office of Federal Operations (OFO), advise on informal dispute resolution, provide training for senior Department officials.

Other practice areas include advising on the Privacy Act, procurement, Sections 504 and 508, suspension and debarment, and reviewing regulations.

Past practice areas concerned complex litigation involving the federal student loan programs in District Court and Bankruptcy Court, as well as administrative court litigation and enforcement.
