Work History

Contractor

Self-employed
Cleveland, OH
06.2022 - Current

Self-employed owner of a small business named Wellfleet, LLC.

I maintain liability insurance and have registered as a contractor in many local cities, including Lakewood.

I have had the opportunity to provide a variety of services.

These services have included drywall installation and finishing, painting, custom shelving, porch rebuilds, building stairs and decks, plumbing, and more.

I built a two-car garage in Fairview Park.

Prepared, submitted, and had the plan approved.

Framed, installed vinyl siding, windows, and doors, and shingled the roof. I did everything except for the electric work and the gutters.

Secured final approval from the city inspector.

Being the person that folks call to get this or that built, fixed, repaired, or replaced means I do a wide variety of tasks.

I've been able to learn how to do many things.

I am still learning!

Sailor

Grand River Navigation, Key Lakes
Traverse City, MI
06.2016 - 12.2022
  • Performed daily safety checks and inspections of ship equipment, systems, and machinery.
  • Supervised personnel in carrying out their assigned tasks aboard the vessel.
  • Engaged in safety drills by leading others in tasks.
  • Performed physical labor!
  • Worked effectively with guys and gals from all over the country. Getting along with angry sailors on a ship is a skill.
  • I started as an OS and left as an AB, supervising one or two OS at a time while performing my duties as well.
  • Being a sailor on the Great Lakes is a unique experience!

  • Performed maintenance and repairs on various floor scrubbers, man lifts, booms, and more. Both electric and gas-powered.
  • Identified problems with equipment through visual inspection and diagnostic testing.
  • Managed tool inventory, ensuring availability of necessary equipment for all repairs.
  • Documented repair work performed on mobile equipment, and written service reports.
  • Installed new or repaired parts, such as gears, shafts, bearings, valves, pumps, cylinders and other components.

The general mechanical skills that enabled me to get this position I learned "on the job".

Heat Treat Furnace Technician

Rockport Industrial Electric
, OH, IN, MI, KY,TN, NC
01.2000 - 01.2004

Operated exclusively out of town.

I was responsible for driving a 20-foot box truck to the job sites. Small towns in KY, the Cincinnati metropolitan area, nowhere TN, etc.

Plumbing tasks for oil and natural gas using steel and copper materials.

Pipe fitting with black pipe and malleable iron.

Welding, cutting, and grinding of steel.

Refractory masonry brickwork.

Assembled electrical control panels for equipment operation under the supervision of Bill Fazekas, electrician, and company owner.

Learned to be proficient across multiple trades.

Painter

Several over the years
Cleveland Area, OH

My name is Ed, and I am a painter.

I started young, helping my dad work on rental homes in Lakewood.

I had to learn a lot of skills needed to maintain a home on my own.

I did so while working on those two rental properties. I am still learning.

Over time, and with friends, I've done a lot of painting.

Worked on the interior and exterior. Commercial space, budget rental, and high-end residential. Sprayed trucks, cabinets, houses, and more.

It's painting; what can you really say?
