  • One of my other roles was to install equipment required by Puget Sound Emergency Radio Network (PSERN) at facilities over a specific square footage. I also would do a zone test required by the Municipality’s Fire Departments.
  • When installing equipment, we had to follow safety protocols, including Lockout-Tagout (LOTO), ladder safety, and climbing gear required to add antennas or cabling to facilities.

  • My significant duties as 2101 Air Transportation System Specialist were maintaining and performing Preventive Maintenance. The test equipment I used to perform Preventive Maintenance and Corrective Maintenance were Oscilloscopes, Multimeters, Optical Time Domain Reflectometer, Spectrum Analyzer, and Fiber Testers. I also performed Equipment Modifications and Certifications on the Radar/MODE-S Systems, Radio Communication Equipment, the STARS G4 Automation System and RDVS Voice Switch Equipment at a Top 15 Core OEP Airport. Modifications required safety measures to ensure I was safe from falls or electrical shocks. Supervisor: Lee Watts

Electronic Technician FV-0865-H

2 Years 11 Months
United States Department of Transportation Federal Aviation Administration | 07.2010 - 06.2013
  • My duties were to install electronic equipment at new facilities and exits, including radar systems and telecommunications equipment. Part of the Telecommunications equipment I installed included Fiber Optics, Wire Cables, Radio Systems, and Electronic Voice Switches.
  • I also installed weather systems and RADAR equipment, all supporting the National Air Space (NAS) and air traffic controllers to ensure the flying public’s safety. The major systems I installed include a new Surveillance Radar and MODE-S, which support the Seattle TRACON. I also installed new Surface Detection Equipment, Model X (ASDE-X), that supported the Air Traffic Control Towers (ATCT) to ensure that Airports’ movement areas were safe for moving planes around the airfield.
  • In one of my assignments, I was assigned as lead installer on major systems outlined in the technical manuals, including small installations at remote airports. As the lead installer, I would work with local SSCs and the Air Traffic Control staff to go through what would be installed and how it would affect the weekly operations. I would also schedule weekly meetings to let them know what work my team completed, and I would plan for the following week, including what safety equipment would be needed for the job.
  • I would also communicate with the Project/System Engineers and my Manager to let them know what work was completed by my team and what needed to be finished per the specifications. I had to document all the work completed, including test results of the equipment each week, and make sure that the red-line drawings were complete and then updated in Project Wise. I had to send a weekly report to record the number of funds used on the project to ensure that all funds had been accounted for. We would work with the local sector technicians to accept and certify the equipment, which would be turned over to the air traffic controllers for use on the NAS. Supervisor: Fred Trevino.
