I am inspired to be in healthcare, specifically a nurse, because I vividly remember being fascinated by the quotidian stories I'd hear, the complex lives of patients, and the bizarre anecdotes that were sprinkled throughout the description of a work day. As I've grown older, my fascination has only grown deeper. I now revere healthcare workers whose efforts save lives. I admire caretakers, first aid responders, and doctors. Most of all, I'm passionate about caring for others. In my mind, the only job worth devoting a lifetime to is one where I can directly impact lives. I have a certain love for the human body, though it may not always be pretty. After all, that's what healthcare workers are for. They're ready to take in the good, the bad, and the ugly. In this sense, healthcare workers are indispensable. They welcome patients, perform routine checkups, and make the cogs turn behind the machines that are hospitals and care facilities. I hope to be a vital part of these operations one day. I aspire to be able to come home from work feeling as if I've made a difference every single day.
