In charge of preparing and distributing specialized diets for over 50 different species of animals daily. Handles and works with a variety of native and exotic animals, including primates, reptiles, birds, large carnivores, and more. Creates specialized animal enrichment activities. Responsible for cleaning and grounds maintenance. Directs volunteers, interns, and employees on proper animal care, cleaning, and handling procedures. Keeps a detailed log of cleaning schedules, diets, animal behavior, and other relevant information. Assists with school and special events, as well as outreach visits featuring animals. Worked a contract through the Aquarium of the Pacific as an animal ambassador presenter.
