Selected Authored Reports

Archeological Data Recovery of the 1740 Black House Site (28-BU-977), Chesterfield Township, Burlington County, New Jersey. (2023). Conducted extensive archival research on the historic Black house, a circa 1740 farmstead. Included notable studies on Quakerism in southern New Jersey and production of a report on the work.


Phase I Archaeological and Phase II Architectural Surveys of the Cross Mill Center Project Area, Loudoun County, Virginia. (2023). Conducted extensive archival research on two parcels. Parcels found to have been historically occupied by African Americans in the post-Emancipation community called Lower Sycolin.


Phase II Archaeological Testing of Site 44PW1440 at the Grayson Overlook Project Area, Prince William County, Virginia. (2023). Conducted extensive archival research on parcel where Site 44PW1440 is located. Parcel found to have been occupied by African Americans and part of the post-Emancipation community called The Settlement.


Phase IA Cultural Resource Study of the Spotsylvania Tech Campus Project Area, Spotsylvania County, Virginia. (2023). Conducted an architectural study of the architectural project area (APE) to locate above-ground resources over 50 years in age located within the APE that may require reconnaissance-level (Phase IB) architectural survey.


African American Resources in Fauquier County, Virginia, National Register of Historic Places Multiple Property Form. (2022) Co-authored MPD that covers the larger history of African Americans in Fauquier County and documents African American resources, including churches, schools, and fraternal lodges. Listed in Virginia Landmarks Register and NRHP in 2022.


Phase II Testing of Site 44ST1312 at the Austin Ridge Logistics Project Area, Stafford County, Virginia. (2022). Conducted extensive archival research on site 44ST1312, a domestic building and terraced garden dating to the late-nineteenth and early-twentieth centuries. Found that the site was historically occupied by the Greenhow family, an interracial family.


Meridian Hill Park, African American Experiences Since the Civil War. (2019). A Special Resource Study for the National Park Service (NPS) on the African American experience in relation to Meridian Hill Park, Washington, D.C. 


Catoctin Mountain Park Administrative History Update (2020) and Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts Administrative History Update. (2023). Researched and authored two administrative histories for the NPS, providing a thorough history of each park's origin and evolution, legislative background, policies, and programs to facilitate informed management decisions. Both studies included oral history interviews.


Henry Farm Cultural Landscape Inventory, Manassas National Battlefield (2019) and Georgetown Area Cultural Landscape Inventory, Chesapeake and Ohio Canal National Historical Park (2018).  Conducted archival research on the two landscapes for the NPS to provide a comprehensive history on the development and history of the landscape. Documented and analyzed the landscape and provided an analysis of integrity.
