Responsible for the management and supervision of the Day Treatment Program (DTP) at Pender Correctional Institution, a statewide program for DD/IDD and other cognitively impaired adult male felons, which includes:

• Planning, directing, implementing, and evaluating service delivery to achieve program goals and objectives;
• Coordinating ongoing treatment activities;
• Developing work plans for DTP staff;
• Consulting and coordinating with psychiatric providers;
• Management, supervision, and training of DTP staff;
• Serving as a liaison between DTP staff and upper management;
• Assessing and ensuring proper allocation of resources for daily program operation;
• Conducting comprehensive intake assessments;
• Developing individualized treatment plans and behavioral intervention strategies.

Responsible for the provision of outpatient mental health services to adult male felons, which includes:

• Comprehensive psychosocial assessments and diagnoses;
• Psychological testing (WAIS, MMPI, SCL-90R, SIMS, M-FAST, MMSE);
• Psychiatric referrals and consultation;
• Psychotropic medication education and management;
• Psychotherapy;
• Treatment planning;
• Crisis intervention;
• Self-injury/suicide risk assessment and intervention;
• Psychoeducational groups;
• Supervision and training of practicum students.

Responsible for interdepartmental consultation, collaboration, and education to facilitate institutional operation and the safety and security of offenders, staff, and the general public, which includes:

• Development and implementation of suicide prevention and behavior modification plans;
• Referrals for voluntary and involuntary inpatient psychiatric treatment of acutely mentally-ill offenders;
• Representation at multidisciplinary meetings.

Conducted consultative examinations for NC Disability Determination Services, which included:

• Comprehensive clinical psychological evaluations;
• Psychometric assessment of cognitive functioning, including standardized tests of intelligence, achievement, and memory;
• Diagnostics.

Responsible for the provision of psychological services to clients of a residential intermediate care facility for individuals with intellectual disabilities (ICF/IDD), which included:

• Direct observation of clients and staff consultation to identify maladaptive/target behaviors;
• Development of individualized behavioral intervention plans;
• Education and training of staff and care providers on implementation of behavior intervention plans;
• Monthly data analysis and evaluation of client progress;
• Presentation of client progress at annual treatment team meetings;
• Consultation with client family members and/or guardians;
• Psychiatric consultations.
