Development of Project Document for Nature-Based Solutions for Wastewater Treatment in the Drin River Basin
• Developed in the framework of the SEE Nexus project, funded by the Austrian Development Agency (ADA) and implemented by the Global Water Partnership for the Mediterranean (GWP-Med).
• Sub-contracted to a consortium composed of IRIDRA consultants, supported by SHUKALB (Water Supply and Sewerage Association of Albania) in partnership with the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna.
Scope of the Project:
• Identified, assessed, and designed two pilot projects (one per each riparian country) for the implementation of nature-based solutions (NBS) aimed at treating wastewater in rural areas of Albania and Kosovo.
• Nature-based solutions are traditional, cost-effective, and sustainable methods for wastewater treatment, particularly suitable for areas with low population density.

• Evaluated multiple technologies and proposed the most optimal solutions for implementation.
• Ensured the project document detailed comprehensive risk assessments and outlined the necessary steps for successful deployment of NBS.
