I immerse myself in the field of public health communications to effectively translate scientific research into actionable health recommendations. My role as a public health communicator requires me to identify gaps in public understanding of matters that are crucial to improving population health.

My efforts have led to advancements in the science and practice of health equity communication and increased the integration of health equity principles into the framework of public health systems and interventions. My extensive experience at the Federal level equips me with unique expertise in areas of communication, program evaluation, research, and the dissemination and promotion of communication materials. Moving forward I am excited to advance the science and practice of public health communications within the field.

Work History

Health Communications Specialist

  • Serve as CDC’s Office of Health Equity lead digital/content strategist where I develop and streamline communication materials to a wide audience.
  • Collaborated with senior leadership in developing CDC’s Health Equity Science and Intervention Strategy, launched in 2021, to transform the approach to health equity at CDC and integrate health equity principles into the agency's work.
  • Transformed CDC's CORE capabilities to implement health equity communications in CDC programs, policies, systems, and research that are inclusive of diverse population groups.
  • Created the digital strategy and roll out plan that launched CDC's Office's Office of Health Equity’s first (X) Twitter and LinkedIn social media accounts.
  • Digital strategist for CDC senior leadership to enhance the reach of public health messaging using digital media.

CDC COVID-19 Pandemic Task Force Lead

  • Coordinated communications support between CDC’s COVID-19 Task Force Unit's to ensure rapid response during the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • Collaborated with the Community Interventions and Critical Populations (CICP) Unit to develop new health guidelines to effectively communicate preventative measures to specific audiences.
  • Support in development of pilot rapid assessment of cultural and linguistic appropriateness of COVID-19 educational materials.
