Is Capital Punishment effective in deterring criminal activity?, My research determined that capital punishment isn’t effective in reducing criminal activity. States that do not have capital punishment have a 63% lower crime rate than states that favor capital punishment. States without capital punishment tend to have lower criminal activity. It is more cost-effective to execute a person. It does not prevent criminal behavior from occurring. Having longer sentences has a better effect on reducing crime.
