As a clarinet section leader, I serve as a mentor, musician, and role model, ensuring the success and cohesion of my section. I provide leadership in both musical and marching fundamentals, offering individual guidance, and reinforcing discipline and teamwork. My role requires strong communication skills to effectively relay information from directors and drum majors while fostering a supportive and motivating environment for my peers.
Beyond playing music well, I focus on responsibility, teamwork, and commitment to help my section perform at its best. Being a section leader has helped me build skills in leadership, problem-solving, and guiding others, which will be useful in many future roles.
