My position as a patient care technician involves a numerous amount of things. Everyday comes with a new set of challenges which assist in my skills of communication and problem solving. In this position, I have learned how to manage my time as well as manage my patients. My responsibilities include drawing blood labs on patients, taking and learning vital signs, helping a patient with activities of daily living, having 12-hour night shifts, and learning how to be patient and compassionate with my patients. I also have times been assigned to be a continuous visual monitor to many patients who might have struggled with suicide, or homicidal thoughts, or for safety measures.
