Fashion Archival Intern 

University of Alabama | Tuscaloosa, AL                                           09/2023 to CURRENT

• Selected to intern at the University of Alabama Archives for the initiation of archiving vintage jewelry and fashion
• Expertise and guidance provided for by the Head of the Archives for the University of Alabama with ongoing collaboration
• Fashion Archives donations, including jewelry, from prominent donors with ties to the University of Alabama
• Project includes vintage jewelry that has not been seen for decades and includes high fashion and couture designers pieces
• Responsibilities include identifying, researching an international database, documenting, categorizing, repairing, and tracking vintage jewelry
• Process includes photography via light box for creating a detailed database of vintage jewelry within the Archives
• Over 1,000 pieces of vintage jewelry have been catalogued
• Vintage jewelry includes bracelets, necklaces, earrings, rings and even eclectic plant hangers
• Special experience in the Archives includes the largest Judith Leiber rhinestone collection in the United States
• Spring 2024 will include my research project showcasing the restoration of vintage jewelry and include a presentation which will be considered for academic awards
• This specialized internship work with vintage jewelry collection in the Archives will help to prevent loss and damage, allow for repair and most importantly to be shared with future generations
