I have been a concertmaster in two separate church symphony orchestras for the past 7 years. In that time I had opportunities to participate in leading sectionals and orchestra rehearsals, giving feedback to musicians about techniques and phrasing, writing bowings for the string sections, playing and singing solos with the orchestra, and collaborating with the Conductor in choosing appropriate repertoire for the orchestra's abilities. I also had an opportunity to conduct a choir for an event in church in 2019. In 2023 I was offered to be the second conductor in the LOTG Symphony Orchestra and in 2024 I was also offered to be one of the conductors of a newly formed LOTG Men's Choir.
Disclaimer: I have been self-taught in violin playing until winter quarter of 2022 when I began my lessons with Amanda Howard-Phillips at EWU. I also have not studied conducting under anyone, but rather learned from research and observation of various conductors throughout my experience playing in various orchestras and events. All work history mentioned later is unpaid and voluntary, same applies to the musicians in mentioned orchestras. Going off of this, I would love to participate in the Conducting Workshop with the SSO to expand my knowledge and experience, and pass it on to the musicians and orchestra that I am working with.
