Distribution Designer

Make a design to move overhead power lines that are inside the WSDOT Control Zone. The new design could be overhead or underground. Send surveyor out to field to get pole locations to determine if poles are in control zone. Help survey when surveyor is to busy to keep up. Send survey data to drafters to get Plan and Profile drawings to determine if poles need to move. Took on above tasks to help Real Estate Department workload and speed up process of design.
Application Engineer

• Work with utility companies to implement Distribution Design System software
• Utility companies contact GSI wanting a software program to help with designing distribution lines above ground and below ground
• I write training documents for the utilities compatible for the software configuration
• Test software to make sure the program is working properly
• Work with the utility companies to implement the software and train the utility staff
• Have been assigned to take the lead for implementation of a GIS system for a utility company in Colorado.

• For the Grant County PUD my duties include but, are not limited to: transmission design and rectifier replacement design; design work consisting of math calculations for proper conductor size and calculations for proper breaker size and placement; project file management; member of implementation team for Engineering
• Content Management; project supervisor for line mitigation project consisting of overseeing contractors ensuring that the project was carried out properly (supervisory duties included: overseeing properly bulldozed dirt from under line and verified elevation using GPS equipment, correct pole replacement, poles removed and new poles placed correctly); monitored contractors for the installation of transmission line and
• Shoo-Fly for Microsoft data center (project duties included: determine and stake pole placements, called locates and marked locates, mapped utilities using AutoCAD Civil 3D); completed various civil construction projects where I designed and monitored the installation of culverts; completing inventory and ordering of parts for transmission line projects
• To perform my job effectively I must possess a strong aptitude for design, construction managements, solve technical problems in research and development, manufacturing, sales, construction, inspection, and maintenance by using science, engineering and mathematical principles.

• Contracted design projects through Pulsed Hydraulics Incorporated:
• Projects included but, were not limited to: using a paper drawing of a facility I was required to produce a building layout consisting of designing the pipe layout for a sewage facility using AutoCAD Mechanical; taking a given volume of a device and using it to design a clamshell to fit over a compressed air mixer in water; given a pallet size I had to design a cabinet to fit a control panel, air compressor and pipes (after completion of this project the design was put into production and is currently being used at various facilities)
• Other design work includes architectural, mechanical and civil drafting.
