Staff Robotics Engineer

Design Engineering:

  • Designed PCBs for new robotic platform, following a carrier board and System on Module (SoM) paradigm, which adhere to ISO-25119 and ISO-18497 and implementation to safety level PL-C.
  • Designed device communication network architecture utilizing EtherCAT protocol as a backbone and safety message handler, in conjunction with device specific protocols such as SPI, I2C, UART, USB, Ethernet, and CAN.
  • Designed electrical architecture for next generation of robotic platform, implementing unified power distribution and management system in accordance to ISO 23285 and ISO16230. Involved multiple power distribution units, along with localized custom and appropriately sized DC/DC regulation.
  • PCB design of custom "System on Module" EtherCAT slave using the TI AM2632 microcontroller, custom 6 port EtherCAT network switch and carrier boards for AM2632 "SoM". Involved PCB design ideas such as rigid-flex, EMI reduction, thermal management, and high speed signals integrity.

Manufacturing, Integration and Test Engineering

  • Wrote multiple robotic fleet software management tools, using web applications via Javascript, rest APIs and ROS interface packages via python, and microcontroller development via C/C++.
  • Designed custom mechanical fixtures, testbeds, and electrical checkout equipment, and custom PCBs in support of life cycle testing, design validation, and assembly/checkout procedures.
  • Wrote software suite utilizing ROS, in Python and C++ for motion control of robotic arm for self diagnostics and testing of electrical and mechanical health of subsystem.
