Through hard work and team collaboration, i have become an accomplisher security and corrections professional with over 30 years of experience, including a pivotal role at PA Department Of Corrections. In 2021, i was recognized with the "Warden of the Year" award for exceptional leadership and innovative safety improvements. I have testified in both state and federal courts effectively. Through my vast experience, i have become an expert in operational strategies and team collaboration, significantly reducing contraband and enhancing facility security. In addtion, i am skilled in investigation techniques, intelligence gathering efforts and labor/management relations.
I have been identified as a strong leader and problem-solver dedicated to streamlining operations to decrease costs and promote organizational efficiency, while putting staff safety and wellness at the forefront of these endeavors. I have developed independent decision-making skills and sound judgment to positively impact agency success.
In 2018, the PA Department of Corrections experienced its first Line of Duty Death of a Corrections Officer in over 40 years. Former PA DOC Secretary John Wetzel tapped my experience and abilities by appointing me as the Superintendent of SCI Somerset soon after that horrific incident. I believe my proudest and most significant achievement was watching the staff at that facility overcome both grief and fear and become one of the flagships of the PA DOC fleet.
