For the past 4 years, I’ve worked for the Wisconsin Department of Corrections, as a correctional officer, at the Wisconsin Secure Program Facility (WSPF) While working in corrections, I’ve been responsible for the security, custody, and safety of the inmates housed at WSPF Throughout my time at WSPF, I’ve spent most of it working on the Segregation Unit I can multitask when there’s much to be done I’ve learned the benefits of building a rapport with the inmates I supervised I’ve built professional relationships with fellow staff members and I’ve learned de-escalation techniques that have served me well over the past 4 years I have experience training new staff as they start their career as a correctional officer I learn new tasks quickly and can implement changes with short notice
