- For the past 4 years, I’ve worked for the Wisconsin Department of Corrections, as a correctional officer, at the Wisconsin Secure Program Facility (WSPF) While working in corrections, I’ve been responsible for the security, custody, and safety of the inmates housed at WSPF Throughout my time at WSPF, I’ve spent most of it working on the Segregation Unit I can multitask when there’s much to be done I’ve learned the benefits of building a rapport with the inmates I supervised I’ve built professional relationships with fellow staff members and I’ve learned de-escalation techniques that have served me well over the past 4 years I have experience training new staff as they start their career as a correctional officer I learn new tasks quickly and can implement changes with short notice
- Additionally, I’ve received training from the Department of Corrections to include but not limited to the following; POSC, firearms, AED/First Aid, NARCAN, Medication Delivery, Trauma Informed Care, and Suicide Prevention Training During my time with the Department of Corrections, I’ve developed strong leadership skills Before working for the Department of Corrections, I worked as a bartender at the Boscobel Bowl and Banquet where I developed communication skills that served me throughout my time at WSPF I’m customer service oriented and have learned the importance of completing inventory properly I pay close attention to detail, have a strong belief in teamwork, and stand behind my organizational skills
