Proffesional Background

  • I have served as a sworn Police Officer in the State of Wisconsin for 17 years with the past 11.5 years being a member of the Village of Menomonee Falls Police Department. During my career, I have gained experience in patrol operations, community orientated policing, conflict resolution, problem-oriented policing, report writing and investigations, state law and municipal code, and juvenile-related calls for service. During my professional career in Law Enforcement my experience has strengthened my ability to remain calm under pressure, communicate effectively, and build trust from the community.

Qualifications

  • During my years of service, I’ve shown strong communication skills and de-escalation techniques with both adult and juvenile citizens. I’ve been committed to ethical policing and held myself to high standards and accountability. I’ve shown to be calm and confident in high-stress situations and environments. My quarterly and yearly reports have shown I’ve been above standard for my investigation skills and report writing. I’ve shown leadership qualities as a tenured Officer to younger Officers and my time as a F.E.M.A. certified Civil Disturbance Instructor. Prior to my Law Enforcement career, I was a Supervisor for U.P.S and in charge of 12 employees who worked in the bulk delivery section which handle millions of dollars’ worth of packages a month. During that time, I developed communication skills and problem-solving techniques to handle employee complaints and daily situations. For a year I was also employed as a Corrections Officer for the Milwaukee County Sheriffs Department where I honed my communication skills which were a vital part of my daily operations.

Experiences

  • Through my time as a Police Officer I’ve been apart of many cases/investigations ranging from municipal retail thefts to Active Shooter callout's. Through these experiences I’ve learned to keep a calming demeanor during stressful situations that help not only myself, but my peers to complete the task at hand in a professional manner. I’ve had advanced training in Active School Shooting scenarios during my time with the City of Milwaukee Police Department along with other similar training with the Menomonee Falls Police Department. I’ve conducted investigations regarding juvenile victims and familiarized myself with both minimal facts and forensic interviews. As both a local Police Officer and Village resident I’m familiar with the High School and Middle School layouts in case of emergency situations. For the past 5 years I’ve been a coach for a local baseball team and have volunteered by time during other local teams and events that my family has been apart of. I’ve shown my past interest for this position when I applied in 2022. Since then I’ve spent time with all three Juvenile Officers discussing the position, and determined that it would be a great fit for my personality and Policing style. I’ve also requested opportunities to became a D.A.R.E Officer through prior training requests and my continued request to go to any future training to teach classes at the local schools.

Reason for Interest

  • I’m interested in becoming a Juvenile Officer because of my commitment to community policing. I believe early engagement with juveniles can positively influence future outcomes. I believe in prevention based over reactive based policing especially for juveniles. As a Village resident and who has children in the School District, I want to create a safe and supportive educational system. Building trust at an early stage can strengthen community ties with the Police. I don’t believe what makes a good Juvenile Officer is the number of reports I write, but the number of reports I can prevent. I don’t want to just be known as a Police Officer in the School. I want to be seen as a trusted adult that the kids can model themselves after who also happens to be a Cop.
