- Job duties included, scheduling office appointments and surgeries
- Obtaining and verifying insurance
- Making all pre-op and post op appointments
- Prescribing correct medications for surgery
- Explaining all the paperwork and plan of care in detail to patient and documenting chart
- Having patients sign consents
- I was the direct contact for patients when it came to their surgeries
- Answer what I could when they called and triage the calls I couldn’t answer to the different departments
- In my new department, Jefferson Trauma/acute I schedule follow up visits for patients that need them after their visit with us at the Emergency Department
- I also do pre-certifications for scans, by calling the insurance and providing them with what they need to have it done
- I make sure we have referrals for pts that need them
- And I call new patients that were referred to us to schedule new patient appointments for a consultation for surgery
- Another thing I am made responsible for is making any specialty appointment the PA tells us to make for patient outside of our department.
