Staff/Charge RN, Behavioral Health Services, Chemical Dependency Unit
As a staff charge RN, I individually assess, monitor and treat patients in the chemical addictions unit, while leading my team in the direction of positive patient outcomes. On the unit, I routinely coordinate care for a diverse adult population, facing challenges including chemical dependency/withdrawal, depression, anxiety, and psychosis. Orienting new RN's to the department in 10 years as a staff leader reminds me how important it is to mentor others. In addition to assuring proper medication administration, I work closely with other disciplines to initiate care for each patient and their families. I am proficient with the hospital's EMR system, EPIC.
As a staff nurse on the general acuity adult unit, I gain extensive experience in caring for patients suffering from anxiety, depression, bipolar d/o, and chemical dependency/withdrawal.
As a staff nurse I assessed patient conditions, carried out doctor's orders and adhered to department protocols. I monitored patients with communicable diseases, establishing and maintaining contact isolation when needed. I provided wound care including pressure ulcers and ostomies and initiated and maintained/administered IV's/medications, g-tub feedings as applicable. Utilized hospital MEDITECH computer system.
