MULTIMEDIA COMMUNICATION FACILITY MANAGEMENT
- Manages day-to-day operation of the Multimedia Communication facilities.
- Manages compliance with the rules and regulations of the Federal Communications Commission in the broadcast operations.
- Files required forms to the FCC.
- In consultation with Information Technology, maintains and updates specialized computer software and programs used in the production studios and broadcast stations (Internet and terrestrial).
- Overseeing and participating in the design, installation, configuration, operation, modification, and maintenance of television and radio production facilities alongside broadcast studios, transmitters, and associated lab studios.
- Oversees operations, maintenance, and technical support for productions in broadcast studios; master control; video and audio editing suites; production facilities; and other broadcast facilities across campus (Television Control Room in Athletic Center).
- Orders supplies and maintains inventory records for facility supplies and equipment.
- Maintains inventory for the radio and television equipment and facilities.
- Installs, maintains, configures, and repairs audio and video recording systems, cameras and monitors, video switchers, audio amplifiers, speakers, microphones, lighting, and a variety of other broadcast, and radio equipment, systems, and devices.
- Researches, reads, and interprets equipment manuals, schematics, diagrams, and other technical documentation used in the repair and upgrade video and audio broadcast facilities.
- Consults, advises and recommends purchases to the Multimedia Communication program coordinator and Communication, Language & Literature chairperson.
- Manage the Comm Arts Facility/Broadcast Operations budget.
TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE / STUDENT & FACULTY SUPPORT
- Oversees technical operations and provides technical support for production activities in broadcast studios, master control, video and audio editing, production facilities, and other broadcast facilities across campus. (Television Control Room in Athletic Center)
- Assists faculty and students in the proper and safe methods of operating instructional broadcast facilities, equipment, and related software.
- Schedules and monitors student utilization of broadcast equipment and facilities in conjunction with the radio and television curriculum as assigned by faculty.
- Formulates and implements operating procedures as needed to maintain the quality of the educational experience known as practicum in relation to the radio and television operations.
- Tracks and distributes audio and video equipment to students utilizing designated department system.
- Ensures the implementation of departmental policies and procedures in regard to department labs, editing suites, facilities and equipment.
- Makes equipment and room reservations for students and facilitates check out and check in of equipment and rooms.
- Manages student’s equipment needs, troubleshooting equipment issues, working with faculty and staff for studio set-up and breakdown, and troubleshooting equipment issues.
- Assists Multimedia Communication students and Athletic Department with streaming various athletic events and understanding technology needs.
- Provides supplemental learning opportunities and workshops for students out of the classroom. Topics are chosen on demand and focus on a skill or practice that is essential for their projects or for enrichment. Examples include: Photoshop/Lightroom workshop, Mastering Manual Mode, and Creating a Portfolio Website.
DEPARTMENTAL SUPPORT
- Oversees Internships (as Instructor of Record) during Maymester, Summer I and Summer II semesters.
- Assists with recruitment and retention by providing tours of the facilities (especially during summer months); attends open houses to demonstrate equipment and technology.
- Assists with special events within the Multimedia Communication program and Communication, Language & Literature department.
- Creates productions that could be used for marketing use for both our program and other programs/departments across the university: by filming events, testimonials, and other productions intended for promotional purposes.
- Maintains alumni relationships: keep in contact with alumni to help maintain the network between graduates and current students. In doing so, alumni can connect and suggest opportunities for internships and careers all over the globe to current students or to fellow graduates.
ADVISER, VMFM 91.7, STUDENT-RUN RADIO STATION
- As the chief officer of 91.7 VMFM, maintains and log transmitter readings on a daily basis to adhere to FCC guidelines.
- Serves as the advisor for VMFM student radio station and offers additional support, if needed, for video production programs including those by TV-Marywood.
- Supervises and directs student performance with regards to radio operations, including initial and continuing training.
- Serves as primary resource for VMFM, regarding radio production functions, including ethics and all aspects related to broadcast media management, operations and public distribution, including FM and internet programming.
- Provides staff support for the student radio and video programs, including advising & assisting student staff in meeting their responsibilities as stated in the job descriptions.
- Advises VMFM student management in developing and implementing responsible radio broadcast and video production policies and procedures that meet Federal Communication Commission.
- Trains VMFM staff in, including but not limited to: ethics; duties; radio broadcast & video production skills; daily operations; deejaying; interviewing; program & music direction; program development; promotion; sound engineering; video editing.
- Assists the VMFM Managers to develop positive relationships with the staff and provides input to the current policies and procedures.
- Serves as an advisory board member of the Marywood Media Group, attending bi-weekly student/faculty MMG meetings.
- Assists with fundraising and service ideas.
