The Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) Interns that are part of the Next Gen Team report directly to EOP Academic Success & Retention Specialist, Lauren Cristobal. It is the goal of EOP to build a foundation from which our interns are able to
demonstrate the following requisite core competencies that broadly prepare them for success in the workplace and
lifelong career management:

● Career & Self-Development: Personal and professional learning, awareness of one's strengths and weaknesses, and networking to build relationships
● Communication: Clearly and effectively exchange information, ideas, facts, and perspectives

● Critical Thinking: Identify and respond to needs based upon an understanding of situational context and logical analysis of
relevant information
● Equity & Inclusion: Demonstrate the awareness, attitude, knowledge, and skills required to equitably engage and include
people from different cultures. Engage in anti-oppressive practices that actively challenge the systems,
structures, and policies of racism and inequity

● Leadership: Recognize and capitalize on personal and team strengths to achieve organizational goals

● Professionalism: Knowing work environments differ greatly, understand and demonstrate effective work habits, and act in
the interest of the larger community and workplace

● Teamwork: Build and maintain collaborative relationships to work effectively toward common goals, while
appreciating diverse viewpoints and shared responsibilities

● Technology: Understand leverage technologies ethically to enhance efficiencies, complete tasks, and accomplish
goals.

• During my last two years of high school, I participated in student government
• During these two years I had a lot of experience when it came to working with others as a team, setting up and organizing events, advocating for others, and being a role model for my school

• I assisted doctors and nurses when it came to prepping items
• Was a translator as I speak fluently in Spanish
• I was also able to also comfort non english speaking patients who needed it which helped build strong connections
