Esther Nyantika

I was born and raised in Oakland, California. I am currently in my first year of college at Berkeley City College studying Psychology. My goal is to transfer to a 4 year university and complete my Bachelors to further pursue my psychology career aspirations.

• Dance Team Member, 2018-2023, Learned various dance styles and choreographies, Performed at various schools, parades, and marches, Played a leadership role by ensuring that younger dancers were dressed in their costumes, didn't miss their cues, and were aware of stage mannerisms
• Black Student Union Secretary (BSU), 2022-2023, As secretary, I meticulously recorded meeting minutes, centralized member information, coordinated events, scheduled meetings, and managed all matters related to the BSU
• Pacific Bridge Club (PBC) Member, 2022-2023, Thoroughly researched Egypt's culture, customs, and volunteer opportunities in preparation for a club trip aimed at supporting community in need there, During the club trip to Egypt & Turkey, I volunteered with autistic children, stray dogs, and children at an orphanage
• Economic Equity Financial Education Program (UC Berkeley), 2022-2023, Through Hass Faculty Members, I learned about financial data analysis, corporation valuation, and personal finance
• California Student Opportunity & Academic Program (Cal-SOAP) Member, 2022-2023, Collaborated closely with a college advisor to strategize career aspirations and secure vital assistance during college and financial aid application processes
• Adventure Club Member, 2021-2022, Engaged in outdoor activities with fellow club members
• Reading Club Treasurer, 2023-Present, Managed finances as the Reading Club Treasurer, overseeing budgets, transactions, financial records, and making purchases for club events
• Umoja Learning Community Scholar, 2023-Present, School learning community that supports Black students and other students of color through fostering academic excellence and empowerment for students of African descent through transformative education and community support
• Student Panelist for BCC's Community Partners Breakfast, 2024, I shared personal insights into college life and advocated for inclusivity in college communities
