- Finished a 720 hour training program that taught me the fundamentals of the trade and machining skills. I had classes in metallurgy, GD&T/print reading, drafting, die operations, jigs and fixtures, precision measuring equipment, geometry, algebra, and trigonometry.
- Repair and perform preventative maintenance on pierce dies, blanking dies and draw dies.
- Diagnose visual or dimensional issues with the part and adjusted tooling in the dies to meet customer specifications.
- Interpret CMM and gauging information and adjusted tooling for tolerance requirements.
- Machined and modified tooling and fixtures using lathes, milling machines, grinders and bandsaws.
- Rebuild and replace flow form tooling such as mandrels, rollers, and roller spindles.
- Replace grob tooling.
- Repair, shim or replace part grippers on transfer systems.
- Replace or adjust sensors on part grippers.
- Design, weld, and fabricate scrap chutes, brackets etc as needed.
- Operate presses and transfer systems using computers.
- Operate an overhead crane.
- Operate a Hilo.
