Broadband Infrastructure Consultant

  • Developed and fostered working relationships with local elected officials, municipal administration, town committees, advocacy groups, and telecommunication companies. Organized over $950k from nine municipalities from a mix of funding pools and $1.5 million from County ARPA funds as matching funds toward state grants. All three of these grants were successful and are receiving over $8 million in state grants, bringing over $35 million in total investments to 13 municipalities which will provide over 30,000 households and businesses access to fiber internet. Educated the public and local officials, lobbied local legislators, and negotiated terms with companies.

  • In partnership with the Maine Broadband Coalition, Island Institute, and the Lincoln County Regional Planning Commission, prepared communities with technical assistance capacity to prepare broadband projects for successful grant applications and implementation.

Attended meetings with representatives from the Economic Development Administration and engineering firms, and learned about the development and management of infrastructure projects.

  • As an Intern with Democracy Maine, a partnership of the League of Women Voters of Maine and Maine Citizens for Clean Elections, led organizing and advocacy work with members of the League and the general public toward advancing voter reform and campaign financing legislation. Experienced many legislative successes including, lobbyist contribution bans, automatic voter registration, and changing from a Presidential Caucus to a Presidential Primary.
