As a young man I was interested in creative exercises. I've done my fair share of personal writing, as well as dabbled in drawing and music. Even to this day, I'm capable of crafting several pages of fiction in mere hours given proper incentive and drive. I enjoy playing with language, to create interesting sentences that meld concepts together, and while I personally attempt to avoid referencing other peoples' works in most of my writing, I find I can easy incorporate any pre-existing worlds into any pieces I write on.
I also enjoy Table Top Role-Playing Games, as they provide an open space for Socializing, and enhancing Communication within a group. There are few places one can experience the depths of an individual's character than when they're forced to make a decision in a fictional world that they have devoted a year or more to, and hardly a finer place to create a trusting environment. TTRPGs, as they are known, also provide excellent spaces for Critical Thinking and becoming more Adaptive. Having to make a split second choice that can alter the lives of not only the fictional characters within the bounds of the game-space, but also the Emotional States of each person involved in the journey can be stressful, but it builds a persons tolerance to such stressful events and provides and outlet for others to find ways to relieve stress. This is perhaps the pinnacle of Creative Expression as well. The ability to handcraft a story, design honorable assistants and devilish villains, only to need to improvise when those involved in the execution of your carefully crafted world choose to never engage with anything you've designed beforehand. It's one of the greatest challenges a creative mind can contest with.
I enjoy Trading Card Games, namely Magic: The Gathering. It's an incredibly complex system, with thousands of rules that I have managed to largely internalize. While I may not be able to name each rule off the top of my head, I can play the game with others with ease and zeal. It's a game that demands Critical Thinking Skills, since the desire to win a game requires one to first build a suitable deck for the scenario they choose to engage with, be it the most popular format of Commander, having to choose 100 unique cards for a deck against three other people, or crafting a 60 card deck for something like Standard, using only a small list of recently printed cards. One must also be able to Predict the Opposition. The ability to examine what your opponents are doing, know their strategy based purely off of Meta Knowledge and the Mana Base they have on display, is not a skill everyone has, but I believe I have that sort of ability. This is also a game that allows for a lot of Creative Freedom. With tens of thousands of cards to access and build decks with, there are practically endless possibilities for how one can construct a gameplan. I myself have built dozens of intricate and unique decks, each seeking to foil my opposition in different ways.
