Launched Artesanías Ulloa, a small business dedicated to selling authentic, handmade Mexican crafts including traditional clothing, purses, jewelry, home décor, and other artisanal pieces. Each item is thoughtfully sourced from skilled artisans in Mexico, showcasing the vibrant artistry, cultural heritage, and craftsmanship of Mexican communities.

Why I started this business:As a proud Mexican-American, I created Artesanías Ulloa to represent both my family and our cultural roots in the Valley. The business was born from a desire to celebrate and preserve traditional Mexican artistry — while also providing others in the community especially students and younger generations — with meaningful access to their heritage. What began as a small idea has evolved into a heartfelt mission: to honor my family's traditions while promoting cultural pride through fashion and design. Beyond cultural impact, this venture has also helped me financially support my education, allowing me to invest in my academic and professional future while staying rooted in my community.

• Curated a unique collection of handmade products supporting indigenous and local artisans
• Supported local and indigenous artisans by sourcing products directly from Mexico
• Designed and managed marketing efforts via Instagram and local markets/pop-ups
• Learned inventory management, customer service, pricing strategy, and brand development
• Health & Wellness Outreach:
  Participated in the Elder Issues Symposium hosted by the City of Brownsville Parks and Recreation Department as part of the Service-Learning Project (SLP) led by Dr. Upal Roy and Dr. Deepa Roy. Served as a presenter, delivering health education to the public on Zika virus awareness, prevention, and community impact.
• Cultural Representation – Asian Festival (McAllen):
  Volunteered at the Asian Festival in McAllen alongside Prof. Mijin Oh-Villarreal (MA, Duksung Women’s University, Seoul, South Korea), where I assisted in promoting Korean culture through traditional games, basic language introductions, and cultural displays, encouraging cross-cultural appreciation and engagement.
• Volunteer Tutor & Youth Mentor: Assisted middle and high school students with academics and provided support in after-school programs
