*Organizes and prioritizes patient care based on their needs and comfort. Applies knowledge ,skills and practices effectively based on the standards and guidelines of care.

My skills and experience as a level III NICU nurse includes attending deliveries in L&D for high risk moms, admissions of critically ill babies such as PPHN needing Nitrous Oxide and Ventilator machine, Meconium Aspiration babies, Gastroschisis, congenital defects with chromosomal abnormalities, cardiac defects with PDA, ASD, VSD if needs higher of care will be transferred to CHLA/ UCLA Whole body cooling following the cooling and rewarming stages Extremely low birth weight babies at 24 weeks that usually will be discharged until 3-4 months of age, Sepsis, NEC, Syphilis, twin gestation, preterm babies, RDS, chronic babies needing oxygen, Poor feeders, Babies with withdrawal symptoms from substance abuse momBabies that need UAC and UVC lines and care Inserting Foley catheter and in and out collection strictly observing sterile technique, assisting in intubation with RT Care of the baby with ventilator Coordinates with the NICU team when doing Cardiorespiratory resuscitation in times of code white for babies IV insertions, OGT, NGT and Replogel tube placement Chest tube insertion with MD for pneumothorax, Lumbar Puncture, Blood drawing from UAC, PAL and sometimes PICC lines
I also performed a lot of surgeries like VP shunt placement, PDA ligation, Exploratory Laparotomy for NEC with ileostomy placement, Takedown after Ileostomy placement, G tube placement, Gastroschisis repair, Pyloromyotomy, Laser therapy for ROP, Lastly, I’ve been a preceptor for few years now teaching newly grads and nurses who want to be a NICU nurse It’s a joy for me once my preceptee passed and completed the 12 weeks of orientation to become an independent NICU nurse
