Evelyn Poroj

Hello there, my name is Evelyn! I'm 17 years old and have many goals in my life to do, like finding a cure to autism and helping as many people as I possibly can. Right now, I have to start from the bottom to make it to the top, from being a student from the outskirts of Alabama, to being a doctor. It's not the matter of if, it's the matter of when. Everything good takes time, and although people might say it's 'impossible' to find a cure for a disease or disorder, I still want to give it my all. Practice doesn't make perfect, but practice makes progress.

This year, I qualified for in-state HOSA competition due to my awarding research poster about how autism can correlate to ages! Hence, understanding and being aware on how autism can work on other people.

While being in this school organization, I've learned how bring awareness to local food banks and other non-profit organizations to help around others.\

By helping others from traumatic or unexpected incidents, it brings a smile to their faces. I've learned how to be patient to others just as someone would be patient around me in any obstacles. June - August 2021

This is where I go to church every Tuesday's, Friday's, and Sunday's. Although I go to the ones in the Hispanic service, there would be 1 or 2 English speakers who don't understand Spanish. Translating & interpreting makes them learn more about God's message. March 2020 - Present

- Learning how to defend myself and others 

This group gave me a reality hit to expect the unexpected. This taughed me how to be calm & preserve in life-threatening situations.

Being a member of SGA, we've created parades and promotions to donate and help out non-profit organizations and to help students from other countries!
