Agronomist Engineer

Summary

In the last nine years working with agriculture and being part of research groups, I had the opportunity to follow and develop a lot of research with the main cultivable crops. I feel highly capable of installing, monitoring, collecting data and harvesting experiments with the main crops, such as Soybean, corn, cotton, and sugar cane.

I also have a lot of affinity with statistics and analysis of results because I have always sought to extract the best possible information obtained in our experimental fields.
I've always been curious about new technologies applicable to agriculture, so this made me learn to work with sensors and electronic tools for data collection.

Finally, I am proud to say that I was born in the country, in other words, I am a country boy. This made me love agriculture and made me develop an affinity with agriculture and the practices involved. All this love for the countryside made me focus on college and improve my knowledge in agribusiness and in research.

Work History

Research Associate Specialist

Louisiana State University
3 2020 - Current
  • Participated in development of methodology for experiments with soy, corn, rice and sugar cane at experimental stations at Louisiana state university and also in areas owned by farmers.
  • I organized several fieldworks in order to carry out evaluation and data collection.
  • I participated in creation of several supports for sensors in order to facilitate collection of data carried out by master's and doctoral students.
  • Made connection between students and professors with employees of experimental stations, with objective of creating environment where everyone could organize research activities without causing inconvenience to each other.
  • Whenever necessary, operated agricultural machines at experimental stations in order to reduce application error, since I knew very well experimental plots and also research methodology in question. With that I managed to reduce application errors by 20%.
  • I performed data collections with terrestrial sensors and onboard drones.
  • With experiments installed, I tried to extract as much data as possible, so I could increase amount of information extracted from each experiment.

Master of Science: Agriculture

Federal University Of Santa Maria
03.2018 - 02.2020

During master's period, conducted comprehensive study on cover crops, specifically focusing on availability of nutrients released after decomposition of plant residues. To do this, selected oats, radish, and vetch as cover crops and analyzed nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), and potassium (K). We collected plant residues at specific intervals of 0, 30, 60, 90, and 120 days after termination, resulting in a total of five collections. Results of our study were intriguing. We found that single crops of radish or vetch exhibited faster decomposition and nutrient release, while oats decomposed more slowly, leading to a more gradual nutrient availability. This led us to the conclusion that an ideal system would involve a combination of two or more cover crops to maintain a balance between decomposition and nutrient availability.

Agronomist Engineer

Federal University Of Santa Maria
3 2014 - 1 2020
  • Together with my supervisor, I headed a research group of 20 to 25 undergraduate and master's students, where we carried out various activities, such as.

  • Surveys with the main winter and summer crops in the region, where weekly and monthly data were collected.

  • I helped organize technical events, where we brought speakers from various regions of the country, with the aim of bringing technical innovations and knowledge to farmers, students and teachers in the region. The events were held every two years and with that we were able to reach more than 5 thousand people and thus fulfilling our objective.

  • During this period, I provided technical assistance with soil sampling and fertilizer recommendations using precision agriculture tools and software.

  • I had a lot of contact with companies and technologies, such as Bayer's Field View platform, where I provided technical assistance to farmers, helping to update the platform and often uploading information generated in agricultural fields.
