The Emergency Room RN Float Pool team members float to all regional Emergency Departments. Locations include; Dearborn, Farmington Hills, Gross Pointe, Taylor and Wayne.

• Population consists of patients with multiple and complex medical diagnoses including but not limited to DKA, Respiratory Failure, Post-Cardiac Arrest
• Interventions, sepsis, stroke/tPA, surgical procedures requiring q1h monitoring or lifesaving interventions.
• Demonstrated knowledge of technical procedures and proper equipment use.
• Utilized advanced assessment skills to identify early indications of deterioration in a patient''s condition, enabling prompt intervention when needed.
• Responded to patient emergencies to provide prompt and correct intervention .
• Monitored patients, evaluated results, and recommended further courses of treatment to quickly improve patient outcomes.
• Coordinated with multidisciplinary teams to ensure cohesive patient care and treatment strategies.
• Facilitated patient and family education and counseling.

• Participate in professional organizations and continuing education to improve practice knowledge and skills
• Identify malfunctioning equipment or devices
• Participate and monitor unit staffing
• Overseeing patient admission and discharge process.
• Supervised staff of 247 nurses, including shift scheduling, delegating assignments and monitoring quality of care
• Facilitate patient flow during emergency situations, directing evacuations, admissions and transfers
• Offer clinical leadership and oversight to LEVEL 1 Trauma Center, 87 beds capable of cardiac monitoring, 5 resuscitation bays and a 9 bed critical care unit
• Address unit staff concerns, including staffing ratios, resource management, allocation of responsibilities and optimized workload management.

• Monitor, record, and report symptoms or changes in patients' conditions
• Maintain accurate, detailed reports and records
• Record patients' medical information and vital signs
• Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests to identify and assess patient's condition
• Modify patient treatment plans as indicated by patients' responses and conditions. Consult and coordinate with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement, or evaluate patient care plans
• Assess the needs of individuals, families, or communities, including assessment of individuals' home or work environments, to identify potential health or safety problems
• Engage in research activities related to nursing
• Oversee patient admission and discharge process. Develop and maintain quality care systems and standards. Consistently assess and eval patients health needs by coordinating across medical disciplines
• Prepare patients for and assist with examinations or treatments
• Prepare rooms, sterile instruments, equipment, or supplies and ensure that stock of supplies is maintained
• Administer local, inhalation, intravenous, or other anesthetics. Perform physical examinations, make tentative diagnosis, and treat patients en route to hospitals or at disaster site triage centers
• Provide or arrange for training or instruction of auxiliary personnel or students.

• Administer medications intravenously, by injection, orally, through gastric tubes, or by other methods
• Titrate vasoactive drugs
• Evaluate patients' vital signs and laboratory data to determine emergency interventions
• Prioritize nursing care for assigned critically ill patients based on assessment data and identified needs
• Advocate for patients' and families' needs, or provide emotional support for patients and their families.
• Administer blood and blood products, monitoring patients for signs and symptoms related to transfusion reactions
• Collaborate with other health care professionals to develop and revise treatment plans based on identified needs and assessment data
• Perform approved therapeutic or diagnostic procedures based upon patients' clinical status
• Identify patients who are at risk of complications due to nutritional status
• Coordinate patient care conferences
• Compile and analyze data obtained from monitoring or diagnostic tests.
• Assist physicians with procedures such as bronchoscopy, endoscopy, endotracheal intubation, and elective cardioversion

• I offer my clinical skills to this LEVEL 3, 99 bed, full service acute care center, capable of cardiac monitoring with a 2 bed resuscitation bay.
• Applies the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation and discharge needs of the patient population of geriatrics, adults, adolescent/pediatrics to this LEVEL 3, 99 bed, full service acute care center.
• Recognizes the roles of the interdisciplinary team.
• Demonstrates the knowledge of and competently performs technical procedures and uses equipment properly.
• Applies the Core Concepts of Patient-Family -Centered Care in practice and uses this knowledge to personalize care for each patient/family
• Stays up to date with current health system initiatives and maintains current knowledge in the area of clinical practice.
