Volunteer Experience

  • Sakura Festival, Washington, D.C, Cashier/Clean up, I was required to help shop owners that needed help setting up, or were overwhelmed by customers. I would help get them any supplies they needed, and at the end of the day help clean up when it was over.
  • Japan Expo, Woodbridge, VA, Unloader/Clean up, As part of the first group to get to the event, I helped unload all the supplies needed for the event o the trucks. I helped multiple stations with setting up all the supplies unloaded. At the end of the day, I helped take everything down, clean up debris, and put it all back on the truck.
  • Sneak Peak, Charlotte, NC, Virginia Tech Representative, It was a trip funded by Virginia Tech to help recruit more students to tech for the upcoming year. They specifically sent African American students so other African American high school students could see faces that looked like them, and be more inclined to apply to Virginia Tech. I answered any questions they had about Virginia Tech and spoke about my experiences so far as a freshman.

Extracurricular Activities

Wahala dance team 

  • Wahala is a west African dance team that performs at Virginia Tech and competes at other schools. A total of 20 hours are dedicated each week

Political science club  

  • We discuss current political topics and respectfully voice our opinions in a safely conducted space

Iron Maidens powerlifting club 

  • I train under the supervision of my peers for powerlifting meets and competitions
