Project Title: Evaluation of Machine Learning Algorithms for Subsurface Target Detection

• Conducted a study comparing multiple machine learning (ML) algorithms and conventional numerical methods for detecting subsurface targets using electrical resistivity (ER) arrays.
• Utilized four ML models and ER arrays to estimate six variables for target location and characterization.
• Identified the dipole-dipole Multilayer Perceptron Neural Network (MLP-NN) as the most accurate model.
• Demonstrated MLP-NN's superior performance in providing sharper contrasts at target boundaries compared to conventional methods.
• Successfully applied MLP-NN to field data acquired at the U.S. DOE Hanford site.
