The Production Associate is an integral member of the Project Production Team. This team is composed of the Project Director, Fabrication Lead, Program Manager, Project Associate, a Project Assistant, and a group of Youth Fellows who are training in the development and fabrication of a large-scale Project.

The Project Production Team is responsible for the selection, prototyping & development, fabrication, and installation of large-scale public artworks. This includes meeting with Beam-selected artists to discuss and help realize their vision for a proposed public artwork; prototyping all of the proposed design elements; creating plans and systems for the fabrication of these projects; building the project; installing the project; and celebrating the impact of our work together!

In addition to this, the Production Associate is responsible for enthusiastically passing on their newly-acquired, or honed, skills to high school youth via Beam’s Fellowship Program. Through this program Production Associates are empowered to practice the continuous cycle of learning and teaching via experimenting and emboldening others to do the same!

Responsibilities:

Shop Specific Responsibilities:

• Assist with general shop maintenance (deep-cleaning, organizing space, tools, and materials, tool maintenance)
• Become familiar with all related Beam Center shop / prototyping spaces
• Weekly/Bi-weekly inventory of space and project needs
  
  

Big Project Responsibilities:

• Assist the Project Director with strategizing the prototyping process for Project needs
• Learn and become proficient in skills / processes relevant to the Project
• Guide Project Assistants towards training in process skills and mentorship skills to pass on to Youth Fellows
• Help structure team meetings to discuss project development goals and timelines
• Assist with hosting development meetings with Artist
• Research and share unique approaches and ideas for the prototyping process
• Interface with other Beam Center staff to resource solutions / techniques for the Project process.

Youth Engagement Responsibilities:

• Set up work-stations with necessary tools and materials for youth programming
• Lead Project Fellows in skills / process training
• Participate in all youth-related activities for team and rapport building
• Provide support to Project Director with youth programming through facilitation of workshops
• Provide support for Project Assistants with programming setup and encourage their capacity for guiding Project Fellows
• Assist with programming cleanup and workstation resets
• Identified new program opportunities in [Location] community through careful research and networking
