Transitioning from owner operator with the acquisition of Frontier Transportation by Alaska West Express in 1994 i quickly went from dispatcher to running the lower 48 operation. my role encompassed oversight and hands on movement of a large amount of the project freight on the North Slope and supporting equipment and production compounds for vendors to Conoco Phillips. Many of these projects included oversize modules and most were a inter-modal requiring inbound highway movement to Seattle/Tacoma and truck from Anchorage to destination. in addition I (we) moved a large percentage of heavy equipment , Caterpillar, Volvo, Komatsu for vendors to North Slope contractors. My experience as a CDL holding driver with Dalton highway experience combined with education and high energy, hands on leadership provided an effective platform to manage our Tacoma operation and interface with Marine operators to successfully tackle some of the most challenging movements in support of Alaska's North Slope
